Orando et Laborando – Praying and Working / 2011
The series is based on my own experiences in high school, which I revisited and examined in depth ten years after my Reformed high school years in Debrecen.
On the one hand, the pictures are an imprint of the world of the rural church school; the isolation, the importance of tradition and form, and the marginality that comes with being a rural school are mixed with the experience of adolescence. The ballad-like images and scenes are mainly brought to life by my own memories and imagination, and the somewhat nostalgic feeling I have for the school and the identity-forming power of the years spent there. The empathic relationship between the young people in the pictures became the driving force behind the series, and the presentation of community and togetherness as a sustaining force became the aim of the work.
