Family Drawing / 2008 – 2012

Fátyol’s photo series, featuring her family, re-interprets daily or onetime occurances, situations, as well as the relationship between family members. She makes general family relations personal by, at the same time, exposing their universal nature. Some photos leave doubt in the spectator about the roles or relationships depicted in the photos, so these roles can be defined by the spectator’s own interpretations.
She often evokes surprise about the familiar by re-arranging the gestures and situations stored in childhood memories. Clean environment and minimal pictorial information support the accentuated emotions apparent in relations and gestures, reinterpreting and adding new levels of significance to intimate relationships.
